Hello I believe you are mixing two different concepts which are complimentary and not substitutes. Java is an object oriented language. Android is a an operating system/enviornment which is being developed by several companies and developers etc... Programs written in java language can be run on the android platform but to do so you have to learn some extensions/libraries to the Java language. Information about the extension can be found through the doc provided by google and others. So your question about which is more of an advantage doesn't make sense because android and Java are not comparable items, theyre too different.
