In the tools/ directory of the SDK distribution is dx (on Linux) or 
dx.bat (on Windows), which I believe is the program that is giving you 
grief.

My BASH-fu is weak, but it would appear you can pass in parameters to 
this that, in turn, get passed into the Java VM. Look for javaOpts.

Given that, there is hopefully a way you can pass in the -Xmx switch to 
increase your heap size. At least with Ant, you should be able to add an 
<arg> to the appropriate build.xml stanza.
