Hi Mark,

Thanks for your help - the issue was the last one; I wasn't handling
the additional parameters - the ctor with context and attrs parameters
was being called, and calling super(context, attrs) did the trick.

Strangely enough, using a TextView didn't work for me, either, but I
don't need to look further into that for now.

Invoking my View in a LinearLayout programmatically also worked.
