straightforward way to fix it is to delete your entire tree and start over with 
repo init.  If you haven't synced yet, you (hopefully) won't have any problems.

You can also try removing the iptables, pcap, tcpdump git repositories 
under .repo, along with their working directories in external/, and re-running 
repo sync.
