You can definitely load apps on it via a USB cable...with the SDK tools. I am not sure if there is some way to do it without them. However, there are a dozen or so over-the-air (OTA) markets beyond Android Market (a.k.a., "the Google store"), such as SlideME, AndAppStore, Handango, Mobihand, and the like.
