Thanks for your answer! I am aware that Android is a linux distribution under the covers. Can I run Android app store apps on Ubuntu natively? I think the answer to that question is no. Android seems (to me) to have value over and above just being linux. It may be pie in the sky but I would like to run the same app on my netbook and on my phone. I can kind of do this with windows mobile, but it sucks in many other ways. While anyone *could* imitate what Google is trying to accomplish in terms of ease of use and multiplatform support, I don't see that anyone *has* done it, including ubuntu.
