Hm - well I was able to get the phone activated by connecting via usb
and su-ing to it via the sdk, as described in that other person's
thread. It now connects me to the ATT carrier network just fine - have
made a few calls, and the connection to my home router is up as well.

Not sure if there's anything else I should be expecting, but all seems
well so far.

Well, except that I had to create a *new* gmail account - this one
wouldn't work with the phone for some reason.

And I can't seem to get the phone to import my sim card contacts.

But these are all things to explore over time. Basic functionality has
been achieved - WOOT!
