Hi,
Many WiFi chips with the firmware running inside can be configured
to enter
the vendor specific power save mode.
Basically, the chip will use 802.11 Power Save mode - wake up to
listen the beacon,
then sleep again.
When the chip receives the broadcast/unicast packet, it will notify
the host
via interrupt.

To save more power, we can let the SDIO controller enter 1-bit mode to
stop the clock.

When we design the SoC(primary CPU), we divide it into several power/
clock domains
for power management purpose.

At least one unique part(power management unit) will not be turned
off.
It controls the power of the rest of SoC.
When the specific event(timer timeout or interrupt) occurs, it can
wake up the SoC.

Since the SDIO controller is inside Qualcomm SoC, it may be possible
to
keep the SDIO controller alive, then turn off or stop the processor
(ARM core) and other components of SoC.
