I have been using eclipse for years. I have searched the forums and tried many suggestions. I am using OSX and Windows XP. I tried Safari, Firefox, and IE. The update site still fails, and eclipse does not recover/finish. The file download for manual install fails to complete download (and is unusually slow) leaving a partial zip file. Someone posted a copy on some italian site that downloads fast and seems to be about the right size, but fails to import into fresh eclipse (on OSX and Windows XP). I am having a hard time understanding why this issue (problems reported in the forums for months just like this) still exists. This is a terrible and silly barrier for new app development. I also tried the ADT-0.9. I had similar issues with that. I am trying to figure out which mobile platform to concentrate app development on. Open source is great, but fails us all when an experienced developer is unable to get through the basic install of the dev environment after so much effort. Is anyone looking into this? Please advise.
