Off the cuff, I'm not sure what's going on. First, try my code verbatim, and make sure it works in your environment. Then, try morphing my code to look more like what you want. For example, even though you are not using a service, give that a shot -- bear in mind that you can't do much in a BroadcastReceiver before timing out.
