Thanks for your input. I'm writing small apps for an egineering phone, hence not going onto android market. I was hoping there was a way via settings->applications->mange applications of seeing the version (though i could not find one myself), that way if an engineer had an issue with a particular version of software they could let me know the version number etc. Anyhow, maybe i'll just add the version to the titlebar of the app.

Without having to "decompile" the manifest file that is (yes, it can be done).
