Have you tried some testing to see what behavior you get? Also, in my opinion, I wouldn't be messing with the screen brightness unless there is a real good reason to. I have my phone settings set exactly how I want them. If an app changed them without a VERY good reason I would be extremely annoyed and probably uninstall the app.
