Exactly.... you are RUNNING your application from Eclipse in the emulator.

AFAIK, there is no way to stop this behavior, but I might be wrong.
 Essentially the emulator is just simulating a click of the icon as a
convenience for debugging purposes, etc...

I think there might be a way to manually install an application from the
command line while the emulator is running, but I wouldn't be the person to
ask on how to do that...
