Both the Google+Android2 emulator and the real Motorola DROID device seem to not be able to run the sample Google Gears applications.
For example, the sample http://code.google.com/apis/gears/samples/hello_world_geolocation.html displays a dialog prompting for the installation of Gears - selecting 'ok' redirects to a page that states that Gears is not available for this platform.
