I don't have the Dream but I do have the HTC Eris which runs 1.5. Verizon has announced that the Eris will get an update of 2.0 or higher in the first quarter of 2010. So HTC is working on upgrading their software. This doesn't answer your question but maybe the Dream will receive the same update in Q1 2010.
