Hello, I am an aspiring developer in the Orem, UT area. My brother and I have an idea for an android app we would like to develop and produce; however, neither of us have a working knowledge of programming, nor do we have the resources to hire a professional programmer to do the work for us. However, I personally am very interested in learning how to program - and I thought this might be an ideal situation to learn in a way that works well for me.
Basically, what I am looking for is someone who would be willing to partner up with us, and through the development process maybe help me to learn to program. I would really love to be involved in the production of the idea as much as possible; and while learning to program is not one of the main focuses of the project, I would like to use the opportunity to my advantage. A class or course is not the ideal learning situation for me, I have found, and I feel it would be much more effective for me to learn in an applied situation. I feel having a defined goal to apply my learning to would greatly help in motivating me to learn; and I also feel I would gain a much deeper understanding this way, than if I were to siimply take a course by myself. Again, I am not necessarily looking for a tutor; their role would primarily be as a development partner, wheras my status as a 'student' would be more akin to an apprenticeship or work-study situation. I don't even necessarily expect to learn how to program very well, just enough to give me a sort of head start. Are there any resources in the Android community I could draw upon? And if not, what would be a good approach to finding somebody willing who would fit our (my) needs? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Beginners" group.
