The DR variant is targeted to Pixel 2 XL (taimen) and Pixel 2 (walleye) only; for all other devices you can use the non-DR variant. The only reliable way I know of to get an exact list of differences is to do diff for each project. For the first release of a new device, it is not always possible to align the release dates of new devices and updates to existing device, thus there are differences. Usually for subsequent update releases, the same branch is used.
