Today (April 15th, 2020) ran: Yeah, there's a fix for this. After downloading the latest version of the cuttlefish code from git, go into the file debian/control and remove the line "python2," from the file. Apparently this tells apt and dpkg that the code is dependent on the package "python2" being installed.
Since 18.04 does not HAVE a package named "python2", this is a problem. Removimg the requirement for "python2" from the debian/control file before building the deb package gets around the problem.
