Hi Assim,

We were thinking about participating at Google Summer of Code as a
mentoring organization, but had to give up this idea as it is not
compatible with the Android Developer's Challenge. I guess similar
constraints apply to other organizations so that you may not easily
find an open source project that deals with Android. Or did you intend
to have Google as a mentor directly?

In any case, our project, OpenIntents, also started to work on a
general AlertProvider - to set arbitrary intents upon specific events.
We have some internal discussion on this here, if you are interested,
have a look:

Your ideas may fit in very well, so feel free to join our discussion
there.
