Hello again, I think that it should have some value when you show to potential employee that you got mail from Google which has said that you developed good application.
The other thing to consider -- maybe there will be 100 excellent applications, but we have only 50 awards. Judges have to choose 50 from 100. Maybe at least congratulation letter from Google should be sent to thanks loosers for effort. At the moment there are 8465 members of Android Developers newsgroup. As far as I know, many people develope more than one application.
