this is kinda similar to something that differentiates cars made by american and japanese.
what do people usually call it? "qual???".... sorry for my outaged memory :p ----- Original Message ----- From: "hitsu_g" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Android Challenge" <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, April 14, 2008 4:35 AM Subject: [android-challenge] Re: Bad submission confirmation This is especially disconcerting as according to the Judging Process page, "we will test all of the submissions to make sure that they actually run on the version of the emulator specified in the submission application. We'll take all the submissions that pass this threshold...". So in effect, selecting the wrong sdk brings one immediate disqualification!!! When I order a book from Amazon I get two clear forms of confirmation from them with all of the relevant details. If they just said, "Thanks for ordering something or other!" who in the world would buy from them? And yet with the ADC we just get "Thanks for your submission..." An order from Amazon might just be a few dollars on the line (and you can return the product if there is a mistake), with ADC it's potentially tens of thousands! And this is Google we are talking about. If anyone can set up a system to say, "On (date & time) you submitted name.apk at 1.5MB as an individual submission under (SDK version)" then Google certainly can. It's too late for round one but in the future I hope Google will improve the system for the sake of people that are willing to put a ton of time and effort into developing for Android and would rather not see their app totally ignored because they we too tired or nervous or whatever to notice they had selected the wrong detail on the submission form! I know Google and others are putting a lot into Android so I do believe this kind of thing will improve in the future but I really feel bad for anyone whose work gets the heave-ho because of a simple error not related at all to the development process...
