Basically, live view is one of the easiest things to create - the view over the horizon is very easy to calculate - it simply reads compass and sensors in order to find out right bearing and horizon line. What is really impressive is terraining the stuff in real-time. With regards to terraining - I take my hat off, those guys are impressive, however, I really doubt about the usability of that part in the metropolitan areas and doubt the practical use for navigation/ orientation anywhere, however, it's good if you just want to see the certain place on earth in 3D. Is idea innovative? Not very, Google Earth is doing something similar for ages, however, the implementation/ polishing is on the top. Indespensibility - very subjective, it will definetely eat batteries like no other application.
