Option #3 sounds like the best approach, thanks. I'm wary of deviating from standard Eclipse build processes (because of the risk of introducing more problems down the line).
I found this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2248706/passing-custom-arguments-to-aapt-in-eclipse but it doesn't really help. Otherwise, I guess Option #2 would be OK.
