i never had any luck getting Xerces going on Android. too much weird
stuff confusing the Dalvik translator.
you can explicitly set the parser that the SAX stuff uses, but i
don't remember the exact call right now. the default SAX parser on
Android is the Apache Harmony one, again IIRC.
