$ export GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=true running that before opening the sdk worked perfect for me. I am on ubuntu 9.10 and I was noticing the buttons in the sdk acted as if they didnt respond to anything. I could then enable the force https http thing, and updating works fine.
