Hi, I had the same problem on Fedora 12. I added a new site- http://dl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml , selected it and it worked. "Force https" in the settings had no effect.
Strange thing though. When I reopen AVD, the new http site is checked, but AVD is still trying to go to the https site. So I have to deselect and reselect the site check boxes. IDK, it works.
