Thanks Mark !! 1. ack on the protocol/etiquette mistake -- my apologies to everybody 2. i will pursue with T-Mobile and return here just to finalize/report "their soln" so anybody stumbling on this thread will know where/what/ how.

If you know the answer, please elaborate or point me to the same info in the docs. thanks again, jeff knaggs On Feb 6, 3:31 pm, Mark Murphy <[email protected]> wrote: > jk-bk-vk wrote: > > Wasn't sure where to post this, so i'm starting here; confident > > someone will re-direct as appropriate. > > Directly emailing core Android developers (per your CC) is not polite. > Please bear in mind that there are millions of Android device users, and > the core Android development team is not front-line technical support. > Your carrier (e.g., T-Mobile), or possibly your device manufacturer > (HTC), offers front-line technical support. > > When you contacted technical support regarding this problem, what did > they tell you? > > > Summary: somehow one or more key-value in the security table /data/ > > data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db were > > changed. > > That is certainly a possibility, though I'm not completely certain that > this would explain all your symptoms. > > > I tried > > accessing the table via adb tools and realized that I didn't have > > proper permissions. > > Correct. > > > Figured it would be no big deal to write a 10-15 > > line piece of code to reset the value, but I don't know enough about > > signing APKs to give the code the necessary access permissions to do > > it. > > > CAN ANYBODY PROVIDE CODE OR APK TO FIX THIS? > > On a "stock My-Touch-3G (i.e. not rooted/jail-broken)", the only one who > could would be HTC. > > -- > Mark Murphy (a Commons > Guy)http://commonsware.com|http://twitter.com/commonsguy > > _Android Programming Tutorials_ Version 1.0 In Print! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
