I think you're probably seeing what I see -- that LocCat just starts showing the last line, briefly, and then going blank.
What I find is that CLEARING logcat with the little Clear Log icon at the right of the icon bar above the log restores it to functionality (though, of course, losing any prior log!) That's a separate problem from the ones that are solved by resetting ADB, or exiting and restarting Eclipse, or the ones that are cured by unplugging and replugging the phone, or rebooting the phone. One way or another, all good things come to an end and after intensive debugging, something or other needs to be reset. Including memory and handle leaks in Eclipse, sigh. I haven't tried the tools update yet to see if they fix any of these issues.
