HI All, thanks for your support. I confirm that, after restarting my computer the emulator is now working correctly.
Since it may help other people: I tried to delete and recreate the AVDs, to delete the workspace of ecplise, to restart the Emulator N times... but everything was solved, as suggested above, by simply shutting down the computer and doing a reboot. A really starnge issue, but at least there is a workaround.
