I don't use the logcat window because I find it's very slow and cumbersome --- instead I start an xterm and do 'adb logcat' in it. This gives me much the same effect, but it's considerably faster and more flexible. Filtered logcats can be done with 'adb logcat | grep keyword'; you can run several at once.
