Having read that the initial device that will feature Android on a
handset is a HTC phone, it made me think about support for the
existing range of HTC phones, more specifically the Touch Diamond. Is
there any reason why Android wouldn't be able to run on this device
sometime in the near future?

Surely the Touch Diamond is a prime candidate for showing off this new
OS to get people interested? The phones are already out there, there
is a HUGE "ROM Cooking" community (because people are sooo fed up with
how slow Windows Mobile is!) that would jump at the chance to run
Android and the phone is technically incredible, the ati chipset it
uses has ample power to run the swish effects needed to show it off!?
