I don't have first-hand experience, but I would expect this would be the 
case. I will be shocked (shocked!) if each handset gets its own public 
IP address.

Which, generally speaking, is a good thing, security-wise.

P2P systems have a number of solutions for this -- search your favorite 
search engine for "NAT traversal".
