showDialog(id) is not blocking.

The more important question, though, is this: why do you want blocking
semantics in an asynchronous framework?  Blocking is a lazy and evil
technique, which leads to subtle bugs and frozen UIs.  Use the
Listeners/Handlers/Loopers instead, and your users will thank you.
