I was about to write "tried this already", but decided to check before I write and now it suddenly works! Actually it was my first approach, before those ideas with mass storage stuff I wrote above. I thought it didn't work because of tight security permissions, but now I see it didn't because of this concurrency issue and does work when I have this "act as USB disk" option turned off.
