I am not able to successfully update 2 applications from the market (Secrets and Wifi Analyzer) that have been installed on my SD card on my NexusOne with Android 2.2 installed (build FRF91).
Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Receive notification from the Android Market that an update is available for both Secrets and Wifi Analyzer, both installed on my SD card. 2. Go to Android Market and initiate the update. 3. App is downloaded, but install is unsuccessful. This happened separately for both Secrets and WifiAnalyzer. In each case, I was able to install the update by manually moving each app from the SD card to the phone. After I did that, I went back to the market and the app showed up with an Install button (rather than an expected Update button). When I clicked on the button, the dialog told me that the installed version will be replaced. I did the install successfully both times. I then moved the app back onto my SD card and the new version worked correctly. I would think that the correct behavior would be that an Android Market update would work with an SD-card installed app. This has been reported as Issue 9593 here: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9593 , but I thought it would be appropriate to bring up here since an article has just been published on the Android Developers Blog on running Android apps on an SD card. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
