I am looking for examples of any Android app that is designed to have
additional features or capabilities by simply downloading an addon,
extension or plugin. For example, there is a Windows desktop
application called EditPlus which is a text editor that uses color
coding and formatting depending upon the type of file you edit. You
can download additional .stx files for other file formats that are
supplied by users. With EditPlus, you just copy the .stx file to the
program's directory and configure it in the application. The .stx file
would be considered an extension. Other apps may use plugins or
addons. Can you think of any Android app that is designed to do this?
What I am really getting at is to determine how the developer
distributes these addons/plugins/extensions and how the user downloads
and installs them, especially on a mobile device. Normally .apk files
are used to download and install the main app but I am curious how
developers provide their addons and how users download and install
them.
