I have an HTC Hero, and altough I've only used it under Windows, I found that I have to initiate "HTC Sync" on the phone for it to show up on the computer as an adb device.

HTC Sync is not installed, so the phone eventually times out, but this is how I am able to debug on this phone.

tried that as well - no luck.
is there any log of the adb I can check/enable?
I can connect under Windows w/o problem
