It's addressing a direct need of developers. From my perspective, I wonder what the impact will be for alternative stores, as they can't use the service.
The basic equation developers have to take into account is: are losses from pirated sales (through weakly protected apps on alternative stores) greater than sales from those alternative stores generate? I'm still trying to digest this.
