The http://market.android.com/details?id= URL opens a "Complete action using" dialog, with the options of Browser and Details, where Details has the Market icon. Selecting Details does indeed open the Market client to the target package; selecting Browser gives the 404 previously discussed. So while it's not completely *wrong*, it is suboptimal, and would be likely to lead to some degree of user confusion. Conclusion: use the market:// URL.
