I can't stand the apple widgets. Too grey, too dull, ugh. Recently had to jailbreak my bro's iphone and the widgets were just as dull if not more. The back button doesn't animate and is way out of the way most of the time. It's too small, I have to search for it and make sure to press the area. Can't exactly do it 'by instinct.' The virtual keyboard is weird, it tries to mimic a real keyboard (like the keyboard on my mac air) (The best way i can describe it is that it feels 'shallow') You can't shift-capitalize (unless I missed something, this was something my bro was complaining about) I like android's better text-predicting virtual keyboard and the way it doesn't try to emulate a computer keyboard and just function well enough as a virtual keyboard. And that's just from using it a day.
Even though the MS widgets aren't as 'pretty' they are pretty efficient and tuned for usability. Not just pretty for the sake of pretty. Standard answer, if you don't like them, improve them.
