I am also looking to replace the GPS provider. Basically, to replace it with something better and make that improved LocationProvider available for other applications. (If you have knowledge about the atmospheric distortion in your location, you can remove this one source of error. If then your GPS chip/antenna is good enough, you can get up to 1cm of accuracy.
