Well, I wouldn't say you posted this in an improper way, though it
would have been nice to know what Google query you tried and found
wanting before posting.

But since you are new to the list, I will introduce you to one of the
more annoying kinds of answers you will no doubt experience, by asking
the question often asked in similar circumstances: have you looked at
the Android source code for handling the long-press home key?

I'll be a little more helpful than that annoying answer by adding that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622666 suggests that
you can find what you are looking for in ActivityManagerService.java.
And indeed, when I look at it I see a ProcessMap described in the
comment as "All of the applications we currently have running
organized by name.", which sounds pretty close to what you want.

To browse the source, start at http://android.git.kernel.org/ and pick
which tree/branch you want.
