Looking at the source, it appears that bookmarks are ordered by their
creation date/time:
http://www.netmite.com/android/mydroid/packages/apps/Browser/src/com/android/browser/BrowserBookmarksAdapter.java
Be prepared that this *might* break in future releases of Android, or
with heavily customized firmware (HTC Sense, MOTOBLUR, TouchWiz).

"Column X" could be probably guessed, or looked up in the source - might
be bookmark creation date/time, number of visits, last visit date/time, etc.

Maybe I'm missing something but there are many Bookmarks organizer
that allow sorting.
and when you sort using those apps, the Browser bookmarks are sorted
as well...
How is that possible?
