Sorry, I only saw this thread again today.
I wasn't able to launch the Phonebook, I just added a small bit of
code to check if there is someone who can receive the phonebook
intent.
PackageManager pkgMgr = getPackageManager();
List<ResolveInfo> list = pkgMgr.queryIntentActivities(new
Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Contacts.CONTENT_URI),
PackageManager.MATCH_DEFAULT_ONLY);
if (list.isEmpty()){
// I just remove the menu item to access the phonebook
menu.removeItem(R.id.app_menu_contacts);
}
Maybe you can try this approach also.
