I'll assume that if there is no previous intent, there is no headset
connected. That seems like a safe bet.
My code now looks as follows:
Intent intent = registerReceiver(myHandler,new
IntentFilter(Intent.ACTION_HEADSET_PLUG));
if (intent != null)
myHandler.onReceive(this, intent);
