Use an ImageButton, set the image as the src, set the background to
@android:color/transparent, then add padding.
<ImageButton android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:src="@drawable/search_button"
android:background="@android:color/transparent"
android:id="@+id/ibtn_do_search"
android:focusable="true"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:scaleType="fitXY"
android:clickable="true"
android:layout_centerVertical="true">
</ImageButton>
