Unless someone else has a better idea and I'm going at this alone =(

Here is what I rigged to work..

if(lockWidgets){
        intent = new Intent(context, DUMMY.class);
        pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(context, 0, intent,
PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT);
}

The DUMMY.class is completely empty. My pendingIntent is valid, but
does nothing at all.
