I don't have an answer for your problem, but I wanted to point out
that Helios is not recommended for Android development. I am still
running Ganymede on a recommendation posted here in the group, I think
by Romain Guy. I don't know if it specifically has a problem with
DDMS.

The situation may have recently changed, but I am not aware that it
has.
