You can do this via the LayoutParams. E.g. like below: RelativeLayout relativeLayout = new RelativeLayout(this); RelativeLayout.LayoutParams relativeParams = new RelativeLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT); relativeParams.addRule(RelativeLayout.ALIGN_PARENT_BOTTOM);
