I'm using TabHost for showing tabs. I overlay the views for each tab with a GestureOverlayView, orientation="vertical", eventsInterceptionEnabled="true" (list-views may be inside the tabhosts).
Then implement GestureOverlayView's event-listeners (e.g. onGesturePerformedListener) to listen for a finished gesture. If the gesture is mostly horizontal and of a certain horizontal distance, I change the TabHost's tab to the next or previous tab. In the onTabChangeListener, I use animations to mimic sliding the contents of the tabs in and out of view.
